About 3D Animation
History of 3D Animation
3D Animation is a important part of 3D Graphics world and we are very much connected to it. And specially our childhood. Cartoons were the only examples I knew as a child.
If I tell you my favorite ones, they were ducktales and talespin.
And writing about them looks like lots more exciting as was watching them. But times changed and those cartoons gradually changed into 3D Animation.
As now, all over the world we witness 3D characterization of literally everything. Be it Cartoons, Real estate projects, Highway Projects, Robotic Projects.
Technical Aspects of 3D Animation
Before you start anything , basically you need a picture of your imagination which you will transform into animation. This very first step could become a game changer for you in this field.
And not only that, it will motivate you to do lots more than just your first project.
So first decide about your hero, I would not suggest you a negative character here. Because first scene should be simple and be happy one. And process of establishing the first character should be a priority.
The position of the character, his different poses , his movements and also the facial expressions on his face would define your complete scene.
You can control the speed with the help of curves, these curves gives lot of comfort to animator regarding the slow in and slow out process.
Timing is another aspect that should be taken care of. Because it will be a bridge between your scene and the movement of the character.
The correct poses of character and have a grasp over how you want to portray it, will require additional knowledge of technical and spontaneous nature.
Toy Story series is great example of how even such small characters could play such an important part in a story.
And what they did not have, emotions , movements , body structure and timing. This should always be achieved by 3D animator. His characters should look real , but at the same time behave as objects too.
Key Framing
A motion picture is made up of frames and each frame when taken together, makes up a scene.
If I remind you about the photo gallery of your mobile phone, you find many images and a option. And that option is to create a slideshow so its very small example of uniting all frames together.
Same thing happen when these frames put together.Rendering process comes into play and renders each frame defining start, middle and ending positions of object.
And this include all the attributes like position, size and texture.
This is the most fundamental tool in digital animation.
With keyframing , you define key starting, middle, and
ending positions and attributes of objects. Just about anything
can be keyframed , including position, rotation, size, deformation
color, and texture.
